WRITING NEWS
The Kickstarter for my latest Signalverse novel, Champions Weekly, failed to reach its funding goal. Thanks to everyone who supported the project. (The book will hopefully be released on Amazon in a few weeks; I'll just be paying Tom out of pocket for the cover art.)
I'm afraid this might be the end of the Signalverse, though. I love this series, and I have ideas for several more books, including sequels to Orchid, Disreputable Persons, and The White Ribbon Runs the Red Lights, but these novels just haven't caught on.
And unfortunately, I don't really know where to go from here. I've been meaning to write a sequel to Sam Fortune and the Wisdom of the Ancients, the pulp-inspired novel I released last year, but that book sold even worse than my Signalverse novels, and the only feedback I've received on it has been negative. I can't imagine a sequel doing any better.
I'm working on an outline for a sort of flintlock fantasy novel right now, but it's shaping up to be a big book, probably over 100,000 words, and writing it would require a huge commitment. And that kind of scares me a little, because I really don't want to spend a whole year writing another book, pouring my heart and soul into it, only to have it to crash and burn like Sam Fortune did.
So the news isn't good.
