NEWS AND VIEWS - MAY 2024
I've decided to quit writing the reviews, essays, and personal reminiscences I append to these monthly updates. No one reads them. The site as a whole gets so little traffic, in fact, that it's hardly even worth keeping it up; the only visitors I get here are hackers, bots, and international scammers trying to steal the site credentials. I recently renewed the domain for another year, so I guess I'll keep it up until next May, at least, just to get my money's worth, but I'm seriously considering shutting the whole website down.
So from now on these updates are going to consist of just basic info about my upcoming books, progress reports, and so on.
I'm still working on the tenth Signalverse book, City of Strange Gods; the current word count is just a little over 90,000. But I'm getting very close to the end; in fact I'm working on the final chapter right now. Not sure when the book will be out -- I have at least a month of proofing, editing, and formatting ahead of me, and I haven't even begun to think about the cover art. I mentioned last month that I was thinking about running a Kickstarter or something for this project, but I've decided against that now -- I don't think another crowdfunder would be successful. So I'm probably just going to release the book on Amazon like I usually do, and with the usual lack of fanfare.
And I still haven't decided what my next project will be. I have one more Signalverse book I'd like to write -- Special Squad E -- and I'd like to update the Complete Guide to the Signalverse as well, but I'll probably wait a while before tackling either of those. I might write a short steampunkish fantasy; I might record an audiobook for Playground Noir; I might even serialize a story on Royal Road. I've got a few ideas that might be a good fit for that site, and it seems like a good place to begin to build up an audience.
But that's all I've got this month.
