NEWS AND VIEWS - SEPTEMBER 2026
Hi, everyone! It's been a pretty uneventful month. I decided to take September off, so I haven't been doing any serious writing work, but I did put the finishing touches on the Special Squad EX outline, which I plan to start writing in October and which I hope to finish by the end of the year. The novel will follow the adventures of Ollie and his teammates on Special Squad EX, a new division of Signal City's Special Squad. Unlike the two other divisions of the Special Squad (Special Squad D and Special Squad E), EX is made up of officers who possess minor superhuman powers and who are theoretically capable of battling the city's supervillains. But the group is controversial, the team members don't really get along, and there's some trouble brewing behind the scenes. Haven't decided what my next project will be, after Special Squad EX. I'm open to suggestions, though. If you'd like to see another Signalverse novel, another collection of short stories, a third Sam Fortune novel, another fantasy, more Playground Noir, or something else entirely, let me know. In other Signalverse news, the twelfth Signalverse novel, Masters of a Million Stars, is now available on my Patreon. I'm thinking it about making it a permanent Patreon exclusive, to try to entice some new patrons, but I haven't made up my mind about that yet. Even if I do decide to release it on Amazon, it won't be out until next year at the earliest, so if you want to read it now, you might consider becoming a (paid) patron.
